This series is a celebration of life, and of surfing as a kind of dance — one that can offer a unique insight into the changing relationship between cultures and coastlines, and fresh perspectives on frequently misrepresented locations.
We came on board for the Sierra Leone episode, joining Sam for a 10-day trip. We documented his travels and captured surf footage in a region that had been stricken by the Ebola virus, as he sought to learn how Sierra Leone has bounced back, surf the Western Peninsula, and meet the crew at Bureh Beach Surf Club — a community at the heart of Sierra Leone’s developing local surf scene. The episode also draws attention to sustainable tourism opportunities, and Sam hopes that capturing Bureh Beach’s racy, consistent point break on film will attract more travelling surfers in future.
In addition to international filming, we provided the motion graphics for the episode, which is distributed by TVF International.
