Drog Yw Genev Vy. My A’th Kar. (I’m Sorry. I Love You.) is a Cornish language short film commissioned by Screen Cornwall and FylmK. Set in the coastal town of Penzance, it follows 15-year-old Sky as she navigates the loss of her mother and a strained relationship with her father. Her grandfather, a recovering alcoholic seeking redemption, becomes her unlikely anchor, each of them searching for healing in their own way.
roduced and filmed in Cornwall, the project was crafted to reflect Cornish identity in its writing, performances and visual language. Lightbox Film Co. worked closely with director Jennifer Fletcher and writer Darcy Vanhinsbergh to capture the grief and emotion at the heart of the film, grounding the story in Cornwall’s community and culture by working with local talent.
Through heartfelt performances, intimate framing and a subtle score, the film explores how love and loss shape the spaces between us.
The film continues its festival circuit, having picked up several international awards, and contributes to the growing body of Cornish-language cinema, showcasing regional storytelling with universal emotional resonance. Supported by Screen Cornwall and FylmK, it strengthens the visibility of Cornish voices in contemporary film and highlights Lightbox Film Co.’s commitment to impactful storytelling.
