The Project

Who knew seaweed was the secret to stunning, mermaid-like, healthy hair? The Cornish Seaweed Bath Co did, and came to us, looking for someone to produce a video campaign and help spread to the word about their products. They knew they wanted a video with a sense of humour and an iconic central character; a mermaid with great hair.

Creative Solution

With this in mind, we brought a comedy-writer onboard to ensure the sense of humour would resonate with the target audience. We wanted it to be clever while still retaining a playful, lightheartedness. It was also very important for us that the mermaid was over 40, fierce, fabulous and confident — representing the key demographic of The Cornish Seaweed and Bath Co’s customers.

Visually, we wanted a blend of surreal and real elements to create a dreamlike fairytale setting, full of glowing images of gorgeous skin and hair, to convey the magical properties of seaweed — while at the same time ensuring the ad in itself remained entertaining and memorable. 

‘The Mermaid’s Secret’ aims to capture and keep your attention — showing off the power of The Cornish Seaweed Bath Co’s products, and the women (and mermaids) that use them.

Outcome & Impact

The Cornish Seaweed Bath Co are currently running multiple versions of the ad across Facebook and Instagram and have already seen an increase in brand awareness and recognition.
