Four teenagers, each quietly worrying about their health, try to figure things out the way most young people do: overthinking alone, searching vague answers online or chatting to friends. When one of them discovers the NHS app and realises it can offer reliable support, it’s quickly shared among them.
To help Healthwave encourage 16 to 18-year-olds to use the NHS app, Lightbox Film Co. created a story-led film that feels honest, relatable and grounded in everyday teenage life.
Rather than presenting the NHS app as a tutorial, Lightbox Film Co. crafted a narrative around four young people going about their daily lives. This way, the story unfolds naturally as the characters discover the app and share it with each other.
Set across recognisable scenes like house parties, study sessions and downtime at home, the film demonstrates how easily the app fits into young people’s lives. The result is a youthful, accessible piece that mirrors genuine digital behaviour and resonates with its audience.
The film helped Healthwave and NHS partners address key challenges around awareness by showing the app’s real-world usefulness in situations young people recognise. It provided a friendly, non-intimidating entry point to the NHS app, supporting wider efforts to improve digital confidence and adoption among especially younger users.
